Katy Perry officially released her anticipated new single “Chained to the Rhythm” at midnight. The song mixes dancehall-influenced beats with sociopolitical concerns, as Perry asks, “Are we crazy? / Living our lives through a lens / Trapped in our white-picket fence like ornaments.” “Chained to the Rhythm” features guest vocals from Skip Marley (grandson of Bob) and Sia, who has a co-writing credit.
It is the lead single from Perry’s as-yet-unannounced new album. She will perform “Chained to the Rhythm” live for the first time this Sunday night at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards. Skip Marley is slated to join her.
Additionally, all iHeartMedia CHR, Hot AC and Rhythmic stations will be airing “Chained to the Rhythm” at the top of the hour, every hour until 11pm tonight.
