Justin Bieber earned his seventh #1 album on the Billboard 200 with Changes. The Pop star’s newest release earned 231,000 equivalent album units in its first week, according to Nielsen Music. This gives Bieber the third-largest debut week so far in 2020, behind Eminem and Halsey, who debuted at #1 and #2 earlier this month. Out of his total number of units, 126,000 are in album sales, boosted by a tie-in with tickets to Bieber’s upcoming stadium tour.
Billboard notes that Bieber is now the youngest artist to ever earn seven #1 albums. The previous record holder was Elvis Presley, who was barely a year older than Bieber when he landed his seventh #1. Additionally, all nine of Bieber’s albums have now hit the top 10 throughout his career.
Debuting at #2 is A Boogie Wit da Hoodie’s Artist 2.0, earning 111,000 equivalent album units, almost entirely from streaming numbers. Australian alt-rock act Tame Impala debuts at #3 with The Slow Rush. The fourth top ten debut this week comes from South Korean Pop group Monsta X at #5 with their first album entirely in English, All About Luv.
Coming in at #4 is last week’s #1, Roddy Ricch’s Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial. Post Malone is at #6 with Billie Eilish at #7. Rapper Pop Smoke, who was sadly shot and killed just last week, is at #8 with Meet the Woo, V.2.
The aforementioned Eminem and Halsey are at #9 and #10, respectively, on this week’s Billboard 200.
