Harry Styles debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200 with the ex-One Direction member’s self-titled solo record. The record earned 230,000 equivalent album units, 193,000 in traditional album sales. According to Nielsen Music, Styles had the biggest opening sales week for a male solo artist from the UK in chart history, topping Sam Smith‘s number in 2014. He is also the second UK male artist to arrive at #1 with a debut album, joining his fellow 1D alum Zayn.
At #2 on the Billboard 200 is the newest album from Country rockers the Zac Brown Band, Welcome Home. It is their fifth Top 10 album. Kendrick Lamar is at #3 with DAMN., followed by Chris Stapleton at #4 and the Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 soundtrack at #5.
The third-highest debut this week comes from Paramore with After Laughter at #6, the group’s first album since their 2013 eponymous record, which arrived at #1. Drake‘s More Life lands at #7 with rapper Machine Gun Kelly debuting at #8 with Bloom. The Top 10 is rounded out by Ed Sheeran at #9 and Bruno Mars at #10.
