iHeartMedia has announced that Chris Edge has been named Area Senior Vice President of Programming for Raleigh and Greensboro, effective immediately. Edge is currently responsible for spearheading the programming strategies for all stations in the Raleigh market, a position he has held for the past five years. As Area Senior Vice President of Programming, he will also oversee programming for iHeartMedia Greensboro’s five stations.
“Chris has had exceptional success in Raleigh and we’re thrilled he’s taking on a larger role for our brands in the area,” said Meg Stevens, Executive Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia’s Northeast Division. “His leadership skills and dynamic personality make him right for the job.”
“iHeartMedia Greensboro is fortunate to have a fantastic group of radio stations and a great programming and on-air team,” said Bill McMartin, Area President for iHeartMedia’s Virginia-Carolina Region. “I am very excited to have Chris as our Area Senior Vice President of Programming. His experience will only help our team continue to grow and our stations get stronger.”
In 2012, Edge returned to iHeartMedia Raleigh as the Senior Vice President of Programming, where he also serves as an on-air host for 95X, Raleigh’s New Rock Alternative. He previously was Program Director of iHeartMedia Raleigh’s Top 40 WDCG-FM from 1999 to 2003. Edge’s background also includes programming roles at stations in Hartford, Connecticut; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Austin, Texas. In 2016, iHeartMedia named him Senior Vice President of Programming of the Year for the Northeast Division.
“I’m looking forward to collaborating with the team in Greensboro, learning new things from them, and contributing to the long-term success of our brands,” said Edge. “Thank you to the entire iHeartMedia team for affording me this opportunity. I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting to work.”
