The Weeknd - Dawn FM

The Weeknd

Two new albums debut atop the Billboard 200 album chart this week, with Gunna‘s DS4Ever at #1 and The Weeknd‘s Dawn FM at #2.

Gunna earns his second #1 album with DS4Ever, which earned 150,300 equivalent album units, almost entirely from streaming, according to MRC Data. DS4Ever was released January 7 as a 19-track album, but Billboard notes a deluxe edition with four bonus tracks was available January 11, then it was pulled offline. Instead, a 20-song version of DS4Ever came out January 13 with an extra song, “P Power,” featuring Drake. An official CD release of DS4Ever isn’t expected until late February or early March. DS4Ever features a number of big-name cameos, including 21 Savage, Future, Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch and Young Thug.

At #2 is The Weeknd with Dawn FM, giving the superstar his eighth Top 10 album. The 16-track album was released January 7, less than a week after it was officially announced. Dawn FM earned 148,000 equivalent album units, entirely digital. It is slated to arrive on CD on January 28, with vinyl LPs and cassette editions on the way April 29. The Weeknd had been teasing Dawn FM since last spring. Like Gunna’s album, Dawn FM also had a deluxe edition arrive days after its release with three extra tracks. Then, three “collector’s editions” of Dawn FM were released as well on January 13.

The soundtrack to Encanto moves from #1 to #3 on this week’s chart, followed by Adele at #4 with her hit album 30. Dangerous: The Double Album from Morgan Wallen is at #5.

The Weeknd’s best-of set The Highlights is at #6, with Olivia Rodrigo at #7, Drake at #8, Doja Cat at #9 and Taylor Swift at #10 with Red (Taylor’s Version).
