Green Day

Performing in London over the weekend, Green Day singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong declared that he would renounce his U.S. citizenship in response to the Supreme Court’s decision to undo Roe v. Wade. According to reports, Armstrong said on stage, “F**k America. I’m f***king renouncing my citizenship. I’m f**king coming here” adding “too much f**king stupid in the world to go back to that miserable f**king excuse for a country,” and telling the British crowd “You’re going to get a lot more of me in the coming days.” Of course, Green Day are no strangers to political statements on stage and in their music, most notably the 2004 smash album American Idiot.

Armstrong was not the only American artist performing in the UK over the weekend to call out the SCOTUS decision from the stage. During the Glastonbury Festival, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Phoebe Bridgers all spoke out against the court’s ruling.

Green Day is currently overseas with their Hella Mega Tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer.
