Non-comm Triple A WFUV/New York has upped overnight and fill-in host Eric Holland into new roles as the Evening Host of the Monday-Thursday evening shift (6-10 p.m.) and as AMD. He began his new shift on Monday night, April 15, 2019. Holland takes over the evening host role from Alisa Ali, who has moved to the Monday-Friday midday slot, 10-2 p.m., and he succeeds Carmel Holt as the AMD. Holt departed WFUV in March for new ventures.
“We already know and respect Eric for his work as FUV’s utility player for nearly a decade – filling in for other on air staffers, hosting interviews, and as an ace fundraiser,” said WFUV PD Rita Houston. “But we are now so happy to have him on the team full time.”
“I’m amped, jazzed, and feel extremely fortunate to be taking over the Evening Host and Assistant Music Director gig,” Holland added. “There is no radio station where I’d rather be than WFUV. We play an inimitable, adventurous mix of music in the non-commercial realm. I have tremendous respect for all the people I’ll continue to work with who are dedicated to the fun and magic of this community of music and radio lovers.”
Holland has long been behind the microphone at WFUV, handling shifts on the overnights and filling in on all dayparts. He’s also part of the team for FUV Music Weekends on wfuv.org and HD2, and is a former host of the daily version of The Alternate Side. His eclectic, globetrotting résumé has included stints as NY1-TV’s music reporter from 2012-2017, the co-host of a radio program, Henna Communication, in Tokyo, Japan, and the PD and afternoon DJ at KKLV/Honolulu. He’s also held DJ duties in Massachusetts (WZLX, WBOS, and WAGY) and WKGB in upstate New York. Holland also taught at Emerson College in Boston, where he received his Master of Arts.
