Entercom today announced the appointment of Jay Hicks as Program Director for WPGC, D.C.’s heritage rhythmic hits station, effective September 16.
“From the beginning, we were seeking a creative visionary with an appreciation for WPGC’s rich history in the D.C. market,” said Phil Zachary, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Entercom Washington D.C. “Jay pays respect to the station’s past while clearly comprehending the present competitive landscape in one of America’s most spirited urban radio battles. He’s ideally suited to lead our veteran air staff.”
“I would like to thank Phil Zachary, Reggie Rouse [Program Director, V-103; Urban Format Captain, Entercom] and the entire Entercom team for allowing me the opportunity to lead such an iconic national brand as WPGC,” said Hicks. “I’m very grateful and honored, and I look forward to adding more value and growth to WPGC in the D.C. community.”
Hicks joins Entercom from Buffalo where he served as Brand Manager for WBLK-FM and WBUF-FM. Prior to that, he was Program Director for WGPR-FM in Detroit and WQHH-FM in Lansing, MI.
