As expected, Drake easily scored the #1 album this week on the Billboard 200 as Certified Lover Boy gives the rap superstar his tenth chart-topper of his career. Certified Lover Boy totaled 613,000 equivalent album units in its first week of availability, according to MRC Data. That is the largest week for any release since Taylor Swift‘s Folklore debuted in August of 2020 with 846,000 units.
This makes Drake one of only eight artists with ten #1 albums, just one week after Kanye West earned his tenth #1. Certified Lover Boy also had the largest week for any rap release since Drake’s own Scorpion in July of 2018.
Last week’s #1, Donda by Kanye West, moves back a slot to #2. At #3 is a debut from Iron Maiden, as the veteran hard rock band lands the highest charting album of their career with Senjutsu.
Olivia Rodrigo‘s Sour is at #4, followed by Doja Cat with Planet Her at #5. Morgan Wallen lands at #6 this week, then Billie Eilish at #7 and The Kid LAROI at #8. The third-highest debut on this week’s album chart comes from Imagine Dragons, whose Mercury – Act 1 gives them their fifth top 10 album. Rounding out the top 10 is Rod Wave with SoulFly.
