In a move designed to reinforce the development of key executive talent at the senior level of the Def Jam Recordings Promotion Department, Nicki Farag has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Promotion; Keith Rothschild has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Top 40 Promotion; and Noah Sheer has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Rhythm/Crossover & Dance Promotion, it was announced today by Rick Sackheim, Executive Vice President, Promotion, Def Jam Recordings. Rothschild, who is based in New York, and Farag and Sheer, who are based in Los Angeles, will report directly to Sackheim.

“Noah, Nicki and Keith have all shown tremendous value to Def Jam and our incredible roster of hit-makers,” said Sackheim. “Individually, each of them are leaders in their field of expertise, but together they show a force of leadership unparalleled in promotion. I am proud to see their growth and development as executives.”

“There is a rich history and a special culture here at Def Jam that Steve Bartels, Rick Sackheim and the entire team have nurtured,” said Farag. “I want to thank them both for giving me the opportunity to be a leader on this team. Def Jam is an iconic brand and a lifestyle, and I’m honored to be one of its ambassadors.”

Farag has served as Vice President, Promotion, Def Jam Recordings, since 2014.  A Def Jam veteran, she came to the company in 2003, and served in positions of increasing responsibility over the years, including Assistant, Promotion Manager, Director of Promotion, Senior Director of Promotion, Vice President, and now Senior Vice President.  Prior to joining Def Jam, she spent just over a year as Promotion Manager at radio station Z100 in New York.

“I would like to thank Steve Bartels and Rick Sackheim for this incredible opportunity,” said Rothschild.  “I am looking forward to representing Def Jam’s established stars as well as breaking new artists at the format.  This is an exciting time to help lead the team to continued success.”

Rothschild has served as Vice President, Top 40 Promotion, Def Jam Recordings, since 2013.  Prior to joining Def Jam, he spent 15 years at Warner Brothers Records starting in 1996, first as a Regional Promotion Manager, and later as National Director of Top 40 Promotion.

“I’m extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished here at Def Jam,” said Sheer. “We approach each and every day with the excitement, passion and motivation to excel. That starts at the top with the incredible leadership of Steve Bartels and Rick Sackheim, and resonates all the way through to every word spoken about this most iconic and cultural of labels, Def Jam Recordings.”

Sheer was appointed Vice President, Top 40 Promotion, at the former Island Def Jam Music Group (IDJ) in 2008.  He came to the company in 2000, as Mid-Atlantic Regional Promotion Manager, and was promoted four years later to Senior Director, Rhythm Promotion.  He began his career in 1998, as a Promotion Assistant at Arista Records.
