David Abel
Cox Media Group (CMG) has named David Abel as Vice President/Market Manager of its radio stations in San Antonio, TX. From this position, Abel will oversee operations at award-winning radio stations that include KISS 99.5, KONO 101.1, KTKX 106.7, KKYX 104.9, KCYY 100.3 and KSMG 105.3.
Abel joins the CMG San Antonio team as a 20-year radio veteran, most recently serving as Vice President of Radio with Griffin Communications in Tulsa, OK. Prior to that role he was VP/GM for Apex Broadcasting’s radio group in Charleston/Hilton Head, SC and also helped Apex launch new digital and IT companies, where he concurrently served as COO. Abel has a history as a member of the CMG family, having worked as a sales manager for 11 years in Greenville, Orlando and Birmingham. Abel began his radio career in sales and sales management in the New Orleans region. Abel is a recognized industry leader and was honored in 2015 by Radio Ink Magazine as one of the “Best Managers in Radio”.
