Nominees for the 2018 American Music Awards were announced today, with Cardi B and Drake topping the list by earning eight nods each.
Drake is up for Artist of the Year against Imagine Dragons, Post Malone, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. Cardi is among the New Artist of the Year nominees alongside Camila Cabello, Khalid, Dua Lip and the late XXXTentacion. Sheeran and Post Malone each earned six nominations. Cabello was nominated five times this year.

The AMA nominations are based on Billboard and Nielsen data on album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, social activity and touring. Fans can vote on the winners in all but three categories currently via www.theamas.com. Voting on New Artist of the Year, Favorite Social Artist and Collaboration of the Year will begin on Monday, September 24.
The 2018 American Music Awards will be hosted by black-ish actress Tracee Ellis Ross and air on ABC on Tuesday, October 9.
