Ronny Gutfreund has been named Director, Alternative Promotion, for Capitol Music Group (CMG), it was announced today by the company’s Senior Vice President of Alternative Promotion, Gary Gorman, to whom Gutfreund will report. In his new position, Gutfreund will focus his promotion efforts in the eastern half of the U.S. on behalf of CMG’s portfolio of labels, including Capitol, Virgin, Harvest and Astralwerks. Gutfreund is currently based in Atlanta but will be relocating to New York in June.
According to Gutfreund, “I can’t begin to say how excited I am for this opportunity to join the Capitol team. Working with great music and a killer staff is a dream come true, and I look forward to helping the company and our artists achieve great success. Gorman commented, “I’m thrilled to have Ronny joining our squad here at Capitol. He brings a decade of strong relationships at radio and a real passion for music that make him a great addition to our promotion team.”
Prior to joining CMG, Gutfreund was East Coast Director of Promotion for Wind-up Records, based in Atlanta. He joined that company in 2003 as a Promotion Coordinator before becoming its Mid-Atlantic Regional rep in 2006, based in Baltimore and then its Southeast Regional rep in 2007, based in Atlanta. He began his career in 2001 with Mammoth Records in New York before transitioning to Elektra Entertainment Group as an Alternative Promotion assistant.
