K-Pop superstars BTS were the big winners at the 49th annual American Music Awards on Sunday night. The group won three AMAs throughout the night: Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop Duo or Group and Favorite Pop Song for “Butter.” Doja Cat was the second biggest winner of the night, landing three AMAs for Favorite Female R&B Artist, Collaboration of the Year (“Kiss Me More” featuring SZA) and Favorite R&B Album for Planet Her.
Olivia Rodrigo was the most-nominated artist this year, with seven, but only walked away with the Best New Artist trophy. Ed Sheeran was named Favorite Male Artist while Taylor Swift was named Favorite Female Artist. Swift also won Favorite Pop Album for evermore. With her two wins, Swift adds to her accolades as the biggest AMA winner in history, as she now has 34 in total.
Of course the awards show also featured wall-to-wall performances from artists such as a team-up between Coldplay and BTS, Rodrigo, Jennifer Lopez and Silk Sonic.
The broadcast was hosted by Cardi B, who also won Favorite Hip-Hop Song for “Up.”
