Korean boy band BTS has made chart history as their new album Love Yourself: Tear debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200. This makes BTS the first-ever K-Pop act with a #1 album in the U.S. Billboard notes that it’s also the second K-Pop record to reach the top ten, with the only other one coming from BTS as well, with 2017’s Love Yourself: Her. It is also the first foreign language album to hit #1 in over a decade, since classical act Il Divo reached #1 with Ancora in Febrary of 2006. Love Yourself: Tear earned 135,000 total units in its first week according to Nielsen Music‘s data, 100,000 were in traditional album sales.
Post Malone moves a slot back to #2 after spending three weeks at #1 with beerbongs & bentleys. Rapper Lil Baby has the second-biggest debut this week with Harder Than Ever coming in at #3. Rockers Five Finger Death Punch debut at #4 with And Justice for None. Billboard notes that all of 5FDP’s albums have hit the top ten, aside from their 2008 debut The Way of the First.
Invasion of Privacy from Cardi B is at #5, followed by The Greatest Showman soundtrack at #6 and J. Cole at #7. Rapper NAV is the fourth and final new release to debut in the top ten, as his first-ever studio album Reckless arrives at #8.
The top ten is rounded out with Black Panther: The Album at #9 and Playboi Carti at #10.
