Music festivals and events continue to be rescheduled or cancelled due to the spread of the coronavirus around the globe.
Organizers of the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival announced on Wednesday that it has been moved from June 11-14 to September 24-27. In a statement, the festival organizers said, “Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival will be rescheduled to take place September 24-27, 2020 out of an abundance of caution and for the health and safety of all Bonnaroovians, artists, staff and our community.
“All current tickets and onsite accommodations (camping, tent rentals, RV, etc.) will be honored for the new weekend. Fans with off-site accommodations and shuttles purchased through the festival will be contacted directly with updates.
“Rest assured, we will share updates as quickly as possible via email, our website, and on our social accounts.
“Please continue to radiate positivity through this uncharted time in our world. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you on The Farm this fall.”
The Bonnaroo lineup is topped by Tool, Lizzo and Tame Impala.
The 2020 Billboard Music Awards have also been postponed. The awards show was set to take place April 29 and a new date is yet to be announced. No nominees for the show had been revealed yet, though Kelly Clarkson is set to host.
Additionally, Glastonbury Festival, the largest music festival in the UK, has been cancelled. Slated for June 24-28 with Taylor Swift and Paul McCartney headlining, the 50th anniversary edition of the event will not happen. In a statement, the organizers said, “Clearly this was not a course of action we hoped to take for our 50th anniversary event, but following the new government measures announced this week – and in times of such unprecedented uncertainty – this is now our only viable option.”
Also, New Orleans’ Jazz & Heritage Festival has been rescheduled from April 23-26 and April 30-May 3 to a date in the fall that will be announced soon.
