(2008) One of the several times P!NK came through the office over the years, she always was, always is and always will be a real one. What you see is what you get. No pretention whatsoever. And what a legendary talent she became. Pictured with the man who took a chance on me back in October 1993 and we've worked side by side ever since, Todd Cavanah, VP/Programming for Entercom Chicago and our great partner at RCA, Jeff Rizzo.

One of the things I love about music and radio is how we are able to be part what’s happening in Pop Culture. Songs come and go. But the memories are still fun! Hulk Hogan’s Daughter Brooke had a Top 40 single in 2006. Her Dad made the rounds to help promote it at the WERZ Radio Show. By the way, I’m 5’ 10” in this photo. Extra points if you know the song title.

I consider myself exceptionally lucky to be able to do what I do in an amazing city like Nashville, and never take for granted the opportunity to meet the best musical artists in the world and do stupid things like meeting Taylor Swift while wearing a snake onesie.

In 1988 we broke a tremendous amount of music at KZZP. I'll boast that we had the best collection of music people in the history of radio during that four-year period. Steve Goddard, Kevin Weatherly, Gene Baxter, Michelle Santosousso, Darcy Sanders, and Todd Fisher. Here we are getting a platinum record from Def Leppard: Mgr. Cliff Bernstein, Todd, Guy, David Leach, Del Williams.

I mean…hello, it's MADONNA! Oddly enough, I had worked "for" Madonna during a brief stint as a record rep for Maverick Records. This was after the Maverick staff was folding into the WB staff and I was back in radio in Kansas City.

1993: My very first on-air gig: an overnight shift at Tucson’s Community Radio KXCI-FM. It was a Slow Jams show that aired from 2AM-6AM Thursday mornings. My first period English teacher was very forgiving and understood why I’d sleep through most of his class.

While in New York, I also became the Music Director in 2009 for Z100 while still on the air at KTU. I also was able to launch my own Nationally Syndicated radio show, "The Weekend Throwdown with Jagger," that started in 2008, and it’s still heard in over 50 cities today! This picture was after an interview with Charlie Puth in 2015.

Photo taken from a shoot with the Cincinnati newspaper regarding the 18 midday shows I was doing around the country circa 2000 including the KISS brands in Rochester, NY, Des Moines, Santa Barbara, Boise, Tulsa, Louisville and others. Why yes that’s a reel-to-reel machine in the background.

MIX 96, Canton NY, 1995: Went "across the street" to the much glossier sounding "Mix 96." My PD was the great Rick Pendleton/RJ Jordan. Learned a lot here. We were a great sounding Hot AC. Tight music, AMAZING microphone processing, solid imaging and promotions. All from the t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-top of the owner's garage! I hosted middays which included the (what else?) the "All-Request Lunch Hour!" We did fairs, festivals, field days, ice cream socials and BBQs too. At one point, they put me in a demolition derby with some toothless hillbillies. They all wanted to kill me.

Most people don’t know I did Urban Radio, WDKX, Rochester for almost 5 years in the early 90’s – this is me trying to be the 3’rd member on RUN DMC!

Ahhhh, I found my swagger… or not! I remember thinking that everyone has “press” shots and I’m going to be in the trades! But which pose to do? Headphones over ears with mic, headphones around neck with upper body headshot pose? Oh the choices. After my first year in Cadillac, MI with MacDonald Broadcasting I was relentless to bother Andy MacDonald for a promotion to their new acquisition WILS in Lansing. MI. At the time Lansing was close to market #100 and that would have meant I made it! The format was Adult and I became pretty good in the Production Room with creative. I also had my own Mix Show on the AM.

My growing family moved again a year later to California where I got to work with Guy Zapoleon, Steve Wyrostock and a very talented staff at Mix 102.7.

My goal while in Allentown was to get to the next biggest market I could. Philadelphia was a short hour or so away and in 1994 Chuck Knight hired me for weekends at WYXR, Star 104.5. After a year doing part time, I was offered Nights and Music Director and made the full time move to Philly. In 1996 Chuck moved on and Dave Allan who had been the longtime PD of Power 99 WUSL came in to take his spot. Dave and I had an amazing relationship and he remains one of the best I’ve ever worked for. I was also lucky enough to meet Guy Zapoleon for the first time while there. I had no idea how important that relationship would be throughout the rest of my career.
