Ariana Grande spent her Tuesday as the only guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, announcing her new album, chatting with the host and performing her new single. Grande’s new record is titled Sweetener and is expected out during the summer. She revealed that some of the new songs are titled “R.E.M.,” “The Light Is Coming,” “God Is A Woman” and “Raindrops.”
Grande said the album is titled Sweetener “because it’s kind of about bringing light to a situation or to someone’s life or somebody else who brings light to your life or sweetening the situation.”
She didn’t directly talk about last year’s attack on her concert in Manchester, but Fallon said to her, “I know it’s just tough for everybody, tough for fans and tough for you. I know you haven’t done any interviews, and I understand that. I just want to say thank you so much for coming on the show and for being so strong, for entertaining, for showing up, for going back to Manchester and doing a benefit. That was awesome of you and I just think you’re so strong.”
Grande also sang her brand-new single “No Tears Left to Cry” for the first time on TV.
Of course, she participated in one of Fallon’s trademark games, performing karaoke versions of hit songs in different musical styles. Grande also used her acting chops in a pre-recorded bit and filmed another segment where she surprised her fans.
