Dave Matthews Band, who got their start in Charlottesville, VA in the early ’90s, have organized a benefit concert to support the city following last month’s protests in the city.
Along with DMB, the all-star lineup for the show includes Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, Pharrell Williams, Chris Stapleton, Cage the Elephant, The Roots and Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes. More special guests are expected to be added to the bill.
“A Concert For Charlottesville, An Evening Of Music And Unity” will be a free concert, taking place September 24 at the University Of Virginia’s Scott Stadium, starting at 3:30 p.m. Concertgoers are being encouraged to donate to the Concert For Charlottesville Fund at the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation. The donations will go to first responders, victims and their families affected by the violence from the racially-charged events that happened on August 11-12, as well as “organizations devoted to the promotion of healing, unity and justice locally and nationwide.”
