After teasing fans late last week with a few clues, Pearl Jam officially announced their 11th studio album Gigaton, which will land on March 27. The first single, “Dance of the Clairvoyants,” will arrive “in the coming weeks,” according to an announcement on their website. Produced by Josh Evans and Pearl Jam, Gigaton is the band’s first new album since 2013’s Lightning Bolt.
“Making this record was a long journey,” explains guitarist Mike McCready. “It was emotionally dark and confusing at times, but also an exciting and experimental road map to musical redemption. Collaborating with my bandmates on Gigaton ultimately gave me greater love, awareness and knowledge of the need for human connection in these times.”
Pearl Jam also will head out on the first leg of a North American tour in March and April. The 16-date tour of the U.S. and Canada kicks off on March 18 in Toronto and wraps with a two-date stint in Oakland April 18-19. Pearl Jam’s North American tour is in addition to the band’s previously announced European summer tour.
