Shawn Mendes was the big winner at Canada’s Juno Awards over the weekend, winning in five of the six categories he was nominated in. The Pop singer-songwriter won Single of Year (“In My Blood”), Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (Shawn Mendes), Songwriter of the Year and Pop Album of the Year. Post Malone won International Album of the Year for Beerbongs & Bentleys. Michael Bublé won for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year, Arkells won Rock Recording of the Year and Avril Lavigne won in the Juno Fan Choice Award category.

Rapper Juice WRLD earns his first #1 album on the latest Billboard 200 chart, with his newest record Death Race for Love. According to Nielsen‘s data, it earned 165,000 equivalent album units, 43,000 were in album sales. Juice WRLD had two top 10 albums in 2018. At #2 is Thank U, Next from Ariana Grande, followed by the soundtrack to A Star is Born at #4.
Country artist Maren Morris has her highest-charting release of her career with Girl at #4. The Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack is at #5, followed by A Boogie Wit da Hoodie at #6. The top 10 is rounded out by Post Malone (#7), Gunna (#8), Drake (#9) and Travis Scott (#10).

Surf rock pioneer Dick Dale has passed away at the age of 81. Dale is credited with creating the guitar sound and tone that is now synonymous with the surf rock music of the Beach Boys and The Ventures, as well as later Punk bands that drew from that era like The Cramps. Dale’s best-known song “Miserlou” received a second life over the opening credits to Pulp Fiction in 1994. The Black Eyed Peas also notably sampled “Miserlou” in the 2006 single “Pump It.”
