Rapper Future tops the Billboard 200 chart with his sixth #1 album in three-and-a-half years. Future Hndrxx Presents: The WIZRD debuts atop this week’s chart with 126,000 equivalent album units. Billboard notes that the last artist with six #1 albums in the equivalent of a such a short time span was Elton John in the early ’70s. Singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers‘ full-length debut Heard It in a Past Life debuts at #2, with 49,000 total units. Country artist Cody Johnson has the only other top ten debut this week, with Ain’t Nothin’ To It at #9.
The rest of the top ten is rounded out by A Boogie Wit da Hoodie (#3), the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack (#4), 21 Savage (#5), Meek Mill (#6), Post Malone (#7), the soundtrack to A Star is Born (#8) and Travis Scott (#10).

Pop singer Halsey has been announced as the host and musical guest for Saturday Night Live, when the venerable late night show returns on February 9. The last performer to serve double-duty on SNL was Drake in May of 2016. Halsey played SNL as the musical guest in January of last year.

John Mayer has announced a North American summer leg of his 2019 tour. The new dates begin July 19 in Albany, NY and run up to September 13-14 with a two-night stand at The Forum in Inglewood, CA. Mayer’s 2019 World Tour launches in March in New Zealand and Australia and then heads to Asia through April. The trek is billed as an “Evening with John Mayer” with two sets of music and no opening act.
