iHeartMedia has announced that Barry Allen has been named Program Director for AC KBFP (Sunny 105.3)/Bakersfield, effective January 22. Allen will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the station’s music programming and for imaging and branding. He will report to Steve Weed, Area Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia’s Central California Region.
“We’re excited to have Barry joining our iHeartMedia Bakersfield family,” said Weed. “When we launched SUNNY 105.3 last year, we filled a major void for Bakersfield listeners and we’re confident that Barry will continue to build out the SUNNY 105.3 brand.”
Allen joins iHeartMedia Bakersfield from KCEZ-FM in Chico, California and KEWB-FM in Redding, California, where he most recently served as Program Director for both stations. He also served as an on-air talent at KZRV-FM and KLZZ-FM in St. Cloud, Minnesota; on-air talent for KRWC-AM in Buffalo, Minnesota; and a Program Director and Interactive Manager for BOLD Radio. Allen began his career in radio at WPKR-FM in Green Bay/Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the ranks of iHeartMedia,” said Allen. “The New Sunny 105.3 is a great station and I’m thankful for the opportunity to come on board and help accelerate the station’s growth.”
