5 Seconds of Summer

Amidst a number of high-profile new releases last week, pop group 5 Seconds of Summer emerged atop the charts, as their new album Youngblood landed at #1 on the Billboard 200. It earned 142,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music, 117,000 of which were in traditional album sales. It is the Australian group’s third straight #1 record.

The Carters (JAY-Z and Beyoncé) land at #2 with Everything is Love. The surprise release from the music power couple arrived late afternoon on Saturday, June 16 and earned 123,000 total units, 70,000 were in traditional album sales. Everything is Love‘s numbers were affected by the limited ways the album was available, as it was a Tidal exclusive to purchase or stream over the weekend, then added to streaming services on Monday, but only for paid subscription tiers. It is still unknown when or if Everything is Love will be available more widely, via digital retailers or with any sort of physical release.

Following the death of rapper XXXTentacion, his albums ? and 17 climbed back up the chart, with the former at #3 and the latter at #7.

At #4 is Post Malone with beerbongs & bentleys, followed by a debut from veteran rapper Nas, whose Nasir arrives at #6. It is his first album since 2012. Christina Aguilera also makes a return to the charts, as the Pop singer’s new album Liberation debuts at #6. It is her first album in six years as well.

The rest of the top ten is made up by Juice WRLD (#8), Cardi B (#9) and Jason Aldean, whose Rearview Town climbs back up due to a concert ticket/album bundle deal.
