iHeartMedia Boston’s 100.7 WZLX, “Boston’s Classic Rock”, announced today that Boston radio legend and longtime Afternoon Drive host Chuck Nowlin will anchor a brand-new morning show on 100.7 WZLX. Starting Monday, Chuck will be joined by market veteran Danielle Murr and WZLX Program Director, Chris Tyler. “The Chuck Nowlin Morning Show” will broadcast on 100.7 WZLX weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Nowlin is the longest tenured on-air talent on WZLX, hosting Afternoon Drive for over 3 decades. A Massachusetts native, Nowlin’s deep market knowledge and sharp sense of humor have made him a fan favorite with WZLX listeners.
“After years of working the fryolator during the afternoon rush, I’m psyched to take the paper trainee hat off to manage the morning shift and start the day with Boston,” said Nowlin.
Danielle Murr has been a fixture of the Boston radio landscape for over a decade. Prior to joining WZLX, Murr worked as Morning Drive co-host on WAAF and WEEI.
“My passport needs a break, so I’ve decided to get back to my rock and roll roots,” said Murr. “I’m thrilled to return to the morning airwaves in Boston, and bring a dose of sanity to start the day—while undoubtedly driving Chuck and Tyler crazy. I’m excited to add my brand of wit and wisdom to the immensely-talented team at WZLX and iHeart Boston.”
Chris Tyler, WZLX Program Director will also be joining the morning show team while continuing in his current role. Tyler’s other notable rock radio Programing highlights include Program Director duties at WMMS and WHJY.
“I’ve been lucky enough to manage some amazing talent over the years, and Chuck is at the top of that list,” said Tyler. “He is beloved by the loyal WZLX audience. So, it only makes sense that he hosts the new morning show. What doesn’t make sense is me getting up at an ungodly hour every day to be a co-host. He promised me a box of expensive cigars, which I still haven’t received. Oh well, let’s go Boston!”
