Shawn Mendes lands at #1 on the Billboard 200 this week with his eponymous new album, giving the young Pop star his third straight #1 release. All three of Mendes’ albums have now debuted atop the chart. Mendes earned 182,000 equivalent album units, 142,000 in traditional sales. Billboard notes it was his best chart week ever in terms of total units and sales (though the sales totals were boosted by a ticket/album bundle deal). Also, since Mendes is just shy of turning 20 years old, it makes him the third-youngest artist ever with three #1 albums under his belt. Justin Bieber earned his third #1 album in 2011 when he was 17 years old and Miley Cyrus had three #1 albums when she was 15.
beerbongs & bentleys from Post Malone comes in at #2. At #3 is Pusha T with his third album Daytona. The seven-track record was produced by Kanye West and is part of his series of weekly releases from his camp. West’s own new record Ye will surely make a splash on next week’s Billboard chart. At #4 is another debut, Testing from A$AP Rocky.
Cardi B‘s Invasion of Privacy is at #5 with last week’s chart-topper from BTS, Love Yourself: Tear, at #6. Harder Than Ever from Lil Baby is at #7. The last top ten debut this week is from rapper Juice WRLD with Goodbye & Good Riddance. The album actually debuted on the overall chart the week before but only had two days worth of tracking data, as it wasn’t released on the typical Friday release date.
The top ten is filled out by The Greatest Showman soundtrack and J. Cole‘s KOD.
