Frightened Rabbit
Frightened Rabbits singer Scott Hutchison has passed away at the age of 36. The front man for the critically acclaimed Scottish rock band was reported missing by his family earlier this week and his body was discovered overnight by authorities in Scotland.
Founded in 2003 by Hutchison and his brother Grant, Frightened Rabbit released five albums throughout their career. Hutchison also released a solo record under the alias Owl John and just put out an album with a new side project Mastersystem earlier this year.
The band released a statement today, saying, “There are no words to describe the overwhelming sadness and pain that comes with the death of our beloved Scott but to know he is no longer suffering brings us some comfort. Reading messages of support and hope from those he has helped through his art has helped immensely and we encourage you to continue doing this. He will be missed by all of us and his absence will always be felt but he leaves a legacy of hope, kindness and colour that will forever be remembered and shared. Rest peacefully Scott.”
Prince‘s estate and TIDAL have made a joint announcement that unreleased music from the late music icon will be released in 2019. TIDAL owner JAY-Z will help personally curate the material that is released. According to reports, the album will stream exclusively on TIDAL for two weeks, then receive a physical release. The agreement between both parties ends a copyright dispute over streaming rights to Prince’s catalog. The album will not include any music that is under a prior agreement with Warner Bros. Records.
Troy Carter, speaking on behalf of the Prince estate, said “I’m very pleased this is resolved, and we get to honor the relationship between Prince and Tidal with this album. We look forward to fans hearing the new music and experiencing the genius of Prince.”
Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson will return as coaches for the 15th season of The Voice on NBC. Each singer took over the other’s social media accounts on Thursday to make the announcement. Additionally, Billboard reports that Clarkson will sing the National Anthem at this year’s Indianapolis 500. The annual auto race will take place on May 27.
