Beyoncé - Peloton

Recently, Beyoncé wiped her social media accounts, giving fans hope that a new album was on the way. Now, all of her socials have been updated with the announcement of a new project titled Renaissance. It is billed as “Act I,” so it is unclear exactly what type of project is on the way.

A tweet from TIDAL simply says “Beyoncé Renaissance July 29.” Her website’s store lists a “box set – pose 1” as a beyonce.com exclusive, with a collectable box, a “post 1” t-shirt, CD and other extras available for preorder.

In British Vogue, a cover story released today includes the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful describing having heard the album already in person. He wrote, “Soaring vocals and fierce beats combine and in a split second I’m transported back to the clubs of my youth. I want to get up and start throwing moves. It’s music I love to my core. Music that makes you rise, that turns your mind to cultures and subcultures, to our people past and present, music that will unite so many on the dance floor, music that touches your soul. As ever with Beyoncé, it is all about the intent. I sit back, after the wave, absorbing it all.”

In recent years, Beyoncé released her live album Homecoming, worked on the soundtrack to the update of The Lion King and put out the visual album Black Is King in 2020. She also released the Oscar-nominated song “Be Alive” from King Richard. However, her last proper solo studio album was Lemonade, released way back in 2016.
