Nominees for the 64th Annual Grammy Awards were announced today, with jazz-pop artist Jon Batiste leading the overall pack with 11 nominations. Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and H.E.R. are all tied with eight nods each, while Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo are nominated seven times. Lil Nas X, Kanye West, Brandi Carlile and Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett are among the other notable most-nominated artists.
Eilish has the distinction of being nominated three years in a row for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
Best known as the band leader for the Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Batiste picked up his 11 nominations based on his latest album We Are as well as the soundtrack to Pixar‘s Soul.
Jay-Z also makes history this year, as his three nods give him 83 in his career, making him the most-nominated artist in Grammy history. With two new nominations, Paul McCartney is right behind him in second place with 81.
The Grammys’ list of nominees also has expanded since its recent rule changes now allow for up to 10 nominations in total for the top four categories: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist.
