The Kendrick Lamar-led Black Panther: The Album is back at #1 on this week’s Billboard 200. The soundtrack to the smash film earned 76,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music, for its third overall week at the top of the chart. At #2 is The Greatest Showman‘s soundtrack, which moves up from #5 following the performance of “This is Me” on the Oscars last weekend. Billboard notes that this is the first week that two soundtracks have been at #1 and #2 on its Top 200 chart since the summer of 2010, when one of the Glee soundtracks was #1 and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was at #2. For two film soundtracks at #1 and #2, you have to go back to July of 1998 with Armageddon and City of Angels, respectively, at the top.
The highest debut of the week comes from rapper Tory Lanez and his second full-length release Memories Don’t Die. It is also the only new release to debut in the top ten, as a number of familiar names fill out the rest of the spots. Migos come in at #4 with Culture II (following their SNL performance last weekend) with Ed Sheeran at #5. Post Malone comes in at #6, followed by Imagine Dragons (#7), Camila Cabello (#8), Kendrick Lamar (#9) and 6ix9ine (#10).
