KMYZ (The Edge)/Tulsa PD Lynn Barstow (aka Lynn Lawless) is exiting the Shamrock Communications Modern Rocker after seven years to return to his old stomping grounds in Austin. The former Program Director and morning host on the seminal early ‘90s Alternative outlet K-NACK (KNNC)/Austin has been named Program Director of Emmis Modern Rock KROX (101X). He replaces former PD Melody Lee who exited earlier this year.
Barstow starts at 101X in January. Said Barstow, “I’ve missed being a part of Austin’s live music scene the last few years – but I’ve kept track of the music coming out of Texas and the great staff that KROX has attracted. We’re going to fine-tune the station to give listeners an experience they can’t get anywhere else. We’ll be part of the Austin community and active on the web too.”
Emmis Austin Radio Vice President and Market Manager, Scott Gillmore notes, “Lynn has a great ear for new music, he’s not afraid to take risks and he’s also a fine manager. We searched nationwide and found a great fit.”
