David Byrne will release a new album, titled American Utopia, on March 9 via Todomundo/Nonesuch. Lead single “Everybody’s Coming To My House” was released today. It is Byrne’s first fully solo album since 2004. The former Talking Heads leader has a number of festival dates lined up this year around the globe, with more world tour dates on the way.
P!nk will sing the National Anthem at Super Bowl LII next month in Minneapolis. The NFL and NBC made the announcement today. The Super Bowl will take place on Sunday, February 4 with Justin Timberlake performing at halftime.
Jack White, Queens of the Stone Age and The National will headline Atlanta’s Shaky Knees Music Festival this May. Running from May 4-6 at Central Park in downtown Atlanta, the lineup also includes David Byrne, Tenacious D, Cake, Fleet Foxes, The War on Drugs, Jimmy Eat World, Franz Ferdinand, Vance Joy, The War on Drugs and many, many more. Also announced today was the lineup for the BottleRock Napa Valley Festival, set for May 25-27 in California’s Napa Valley. The event is headlined by Bruno Mars, The Killers and Muse, with The Chainsmokers, Halsey, Snoop Dogg and Incubus also on board. The eclectic lineup also includes The Head and The Heart, Phantogram, Bleachers, Mike D of the Beastie Boys with a DJ set, Manchester Orchestra and many more artists. The soundtrack to The Greatest Showman climbs to #1 on this week’s Billboard 200 chart, giving the Hugh Jackman musical the first film soundtrack to reach #1 since Fifty Shades Darker in March of last year. Ed Sheeran’s ÷ is at #2 follow by his pal Taylor Swift at #3 with reputation. G-Eazy’s The Beautiful & Damned reaches #4 with Kendrick Lamar‘s DAMN. at #5. The top ten is rounded out by Eminem (#6), Imagine Dragons (#7), Post Malone (#8), Huncho Jack (#9) and Khalid (#10).
Roy Thomas, a founding member of The Moody Blues, has passed away at the age of 76. The singer and flutist co-founded the group, which will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, in 1964
