Arcade Fire‘s fifth album Everything Now arrives atop this week’s Billboard 200 chart, with 100,000 equivalent album units during the week, 94,000 of which were in traditional sales. It gives the band their third #1 album in a row, following Reflektor in 2013 and the Grammy-award winning 2010 album The Suburbs. Everything Now is only the second rock album to reach #1 this year, following Linkin Park‘s One More Light in June. Coincidentally, Billboard notes that they are the only two rock acts with three #1 albums in this decade. Everything Now‘s sales figures included albums sold as part of a bundle with tickets to their upcoming fall tour.
Everything Now is also the only debut album in the top 25 of this week’s chart. Kendrick Lamar is at #2 with DAMN. followed by Wins and Losses from Meek Mill at #3. Grateful by DJ Khaled is at #4 with JAY-Z at #5.
The rest of the top ten is filled out by 21 Savage (#6), Imagine Dragons (#7), Ed Sheeran (#8), the Descendants 2 soundtrack (#9) and last week’s #1 record, Lust for Life by Lana Del Rey, at #10.
