The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2022 nominees, revealing the 17 acts eligible for induction into this year’s Hall class. The list of names on the ballot for 2022 are Beck, Pat Benatar, Kate Bush, Devo, Duran Duran, Eminem, Eurythmics, Judas Priest, Fela Kuti, MC5, New York Dolls, Dolly Parton, Rage Against the Machine, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, A Tribe Called Quest and Dionne Warwick.
Beck, Eminem, Duran Duran, Lionel Richie, A Tribe Called Quest, Carly Simon and Dolly Parton are all first-time nominees, though many other artists on the ballot have been eligible for years. The Hall of Fame’s nomination rule is that an artist must have put out their first commercial at least 25 years before their nomination.
Influential garage rockers MC5 have now been nominated five times, while Rage Against the Machine (who covered MC5) have now been on the ballot four times.
The Rock Hall inductees are voted on by over 1,000 artists, music industry members and historians, fans can also weigh in at vote.rockhall.com or in person at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame itself in Cleveland.
The Class of 2022 will be announced in May, with the ceremony itself slated to take place this fall.
