The 2020 MTV Video Music Award nominees were revealed today, with Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga leading the pack, earning nine nods each. Billie Eilish and The Weeknd earned six nominations each.
The Video of the Year nominees are Billie Eilish for “everything i wanted,” Eminem featuring Juice WRLD with “Godzilla,” Future featuring Drake with “Life is Good,” Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande’s collaboration “Rain on Me,” “The Man” from Taylor Swift and The Weeknd with “Blinding Lights.
Two new quarantine-themed categories have also been introduced this year: Best Music Video from Home and Best Quarantine Performance. MTV says these awards will “spotlight the creative ways artists adapted to the shifting landscape.”
Fans can vote in 15 categories at www.mtv.com/vma/vote through August 23, while voting for PUSH Best New Artist will continue until the awards ceremony itself. The 2020 VMAs will be handed out in Brooklyn on August 30 at the Barclays Center, “as well as from various iconic locations throughout New York City’s five boroughs,” but MTV says the event will take place in front of “limited or no audience” due to COVID-19.
