All of us at Deane Media Solutions are saddened to hear of the passing of programming legend and voice talent Mark Driscoll this morning. He was 72. He was affectionaly known to most, and especially us, as “Mr. Voice.” We had a front row seat listening to his legendary sign-on of Top 40 WIOQ (Q102)/Philadelphia back in 1989 and the birth of infamous station imaging line, “What The Hell… Here’s Another Hit!” His time at Q102 was memorable in that his voice gave the station a much-needed edge and attitude during the height of the Philly radio wars in the late 80s and early 90s.
Driscoll worked in other major markets including New York, Los Angeles, Boston and Washington, DC. He also became the imaging voice for stations like WXKS (Kiss 108)/Boston, WPLJ/New York, WHYI (Y100)/Miami, WKQI/Detroit, and KIIS-FM/Los Angeles.
According to reports, he had been battling heath issues. He recently relocated from California to Pompano Beach, FL. We offer our heartfelt condolences to Mark’s family, friends and colleagues.
Still developing…
