iHeartMedia New York congratulates Natalie Vacca, 710 WOR’s Executive Producer of the Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning Show, and Shelley Rome, Z100’s overnight on-air personality, for receiving 2018 Gracie Awards for their outstanding work in the radio industry. Developed by The Alliance for Women in Media, The Gracies recognize exemplary programming created by women, for women and about women in all facets of media and entertainment. They also acknowledge the individuals who have made inspirational contributions to the industry.
This year, the 2018 Gracie Awards honored two of iHeartMedia New York’s incredible industry talents: Natalie Vacca as the best “Producer – Local” and Shelley Rome as “Best Host – Non-Morning Drive – Local,” both in the Local Radio awards category.
Vacca has been in working in New York Talk radio for more than 25 years. She joined 710 WOR 21 years ago to produce John Gambling’s morning show. Throughout her career she has contributed her talents to a vast variety of radio shows hosted by well-known talents including Mark Simone, Barry Farber, Alan Colmes and the iconic First Lady of Talk Radio, Joan Hamburg.
“I am truly touched and humbled,” said Vacca. “It is a privilege to be recognized by the Alliance for Women in Media knowing how many women I admire have received this honor. It is sincerely appreciated.”
Brooklyn born Rome has been entertaining New Yorkers on Z100 for the past five years playing the hits, sharing pop culture news and interviewing some of the music’s biggest stars including Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez and Bruno Mars. Shelley is currently heard weeknights from 2-5 a.m. and on weekends in the afternoon.
“I am truly humbled to be recognized by an organization created by women that celebrates women,” said Rome. “There are so many talented women in media who I admire and am inspired by. It feels incredibly empowering to come together to honor and celebrate each other’s work.”
“I’m thrilled that both Natalie and Shelley are being honored for their contributions to our industry,” said Scott Hopeck, President for iHeartMedia New York Region. “They inform and entertain millions of our listeners every day, and this recognition is so well-deserved.”
Vacca and Rome will receive their awards at The Gracies Luncheon on Wednesday, June 27 at Cipriani. The Gracies and the full list of winners across all categories can be found at HERE.
