Amanda Samii

Creative music industry executive Amanda Samii has been named Senior Vice President of A&R for Capitol Records, the flagship label of Capitol Music Group (CMG), it was announced today by Capitol Records President Jeff Vaughn, to whom Samii will report.  In her new position, Samii will draw upon her broad experience as an A&R and Publishing executive to sign and develop artists for the company, as well as oversee recording projects for new and established Capitol artists. Samii will assume her post on March 2 and will be based in Hollywood within the company’s iconic Capitol Tower.

Samii comes to Capitol after 10 years at Kobalt Music Publishing, most recently as Vice President of Creative at that company. During her tenure at Kobalt, Samii was instrumental in signing a diverse array of writers and producers, including Finneas O’Connell, who last month won five major Grammys–including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Producer of the Year—for his work with Billie Eilish on her worldwide smash album, When We all Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Samii was instrumental in signing Marshmello whose 2019 Platinum track “Happier,” is the biggest single of the superstar DJ and producer’s career, and followed a host of smash collaborations with Selena Gomez, Khalid, Bastille, Migos, Anne-Marie, Logic, James Arthur, and Juicy J, among others, that have earned him nearly three billion streams to date.

According to Vaughn, “Amanda is a relentless advocate for creatives. Her impressive track record reflects a deep commitment to artist development, which is a passion we share. I am thrilled to welcome her to the Capitol Records team.”

Samii said, “I am thrilled to be joining Steve Barnett, Jeff Vaughn  and the entire Capitol family in my new role.  Capitol Records has such a rich history, and I am honored to be able to help push its legacy forward and mold its future. My passion for music comes from being a fan, first, and the Capitol roster has included some of my favorite artists of all time. Recognizing that rich history, I will strive to sign and work with artists that will shift culture and inspire generations to come.”

Samii joined Kobalt in 2011 as an assistant on the Creative team, rising in the ranks over the decade to her most recent position as Vice President.
